Since '70s, he's made wooden crosses for lives lost — now 49 more


A former Nashvillian is fighting hate with love by making individual memorials for all 49 victims of last weekend’s shooting in Orlando, Fla.

Greg Zanis, 65, of Chicago, has made 49 white crosses, one for each of the victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting Sunday morning. Each cross bears a victim’s name.

“I’m doing this for their families,” Zanis said during a stop in Nashville. “This individualizes it.”
