Obama’s visit to Orlando lifts spirits in city shaken by massacre

ORLANDO, Fla. – Keno Thompson sat in his van and waited for an hour Thursday morning. He wanted to make sure he’d guessed right — that President Barack Obama would be coming to this memorial to pay respects to those killed and injured in Sunday’s massacre.

But what if he was wrong? What if the president went to the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts instead? That’s where a large vigil was held shortly after the shooting.
