We remember the victims of the Tucson massacre. Of course we remember them.
They are Christina-Taylor Green, 9; Dorothy “Dot” Morris, 76; U.S. District Judge John M. Roll, 63; Phyllis Schneck, 79; Dorwan Stoddard, 76; and Gabriel “Gabe” Zimmerman, 30.
But we do not honor them.
We’ve never done the things we could have done – should have done – to honor their memories. Things that would make it more difficult to repeat the horror of Jan. 8, 2011, when 19 people were shot outside a Safeway grocery store just north of Tucson, including then Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
Six died. Thirteen others suffered through their wounds.
